Surgical Skills Development Programme

Description

Young vets interested in clinical career can gain hands-on experience by volunteering in the WVS India clinic in Ooty for 1 week at a time. Our clinic has good diagnostic equipment and our experienced veterinary team is ready to guide junior vets in medicine and diagnostics.

During a clinic volunteering week, vets will get experience in clinical examination, history taking and in common clinical procedures as well as a demo of a basic use of ultrasound.
At times a clinic volunteer might get an opportunity to attend a field vaccination program.
IMPORTANT NOTE: This program is NOT a surgery experience program and the clinic volunteer vet will not be taught surgery but they might be requested to help with anaesthesia monitoring or surgical in-patient care.

The volunteering is mainly for graduate veterinarians but undergraduate veterinary students who are at the internship level can apply for the volunteering programme if their university approves the experience as official part of the internship requirements for the student. This official approval needs to be communicated to the WVS India ITC Clinical director by email info@wvsindia.org before an application can be processed.
